Kallan's digital transformation amid the pandemic

Kallan is a footwear brand that started in 1979, in São Paulo. Since the beginning, the company has shown to be in constant motion of learning, innovation, building relationships and experiences to its customers.

Currently, there are more than 37 stores spread throughout the state of São Paulo, and now the brand has its first e-commerce developed for the brand to continue in constant movement, in the online channels as well. Learn a little about this project.

The scenario

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we can notice that several aspects of the world have changed. Speaking in the retail context, we saw several stores closing their doors due to the restrictions of the new scenario. With the impossibility of leaving home, many people have also changed their consumption habits, joining online channels as their main shopping channel.

Adding these two variants together, it is clear that the path many companies found was to invest in online channels, through digital transformation. This led brands like Kallan to accelerate their digital startup plans, since sales were made exclusively in physical stores.

The project

The brand sought our assistance to develop its first online sales channel, an e-commerce offering a great shopping experience, high performance, and that met the immediate needs of the company that was looking for a quick and hassle-free go-live.

With a short development deadline, our team chose to use the E-commerce Framework solution, which enables the development of the project in stages, using the VTEX platform, aiming for scalability of the operation in the near future.

We carried out the project by structuring an MVP that went live, followed by a subsequent evolution schedule to perform optimizations throughout the e-commerce process. In this initial project, a mobile-friendly site was delivered, with fully responsive banners, product images, and transactional emails. In addition, we added lazyload techniques to optimize the performance and loading time of the pages.

Some features were installed in order to improve the user experience and make the buying journey more intuitive and personalized. Some of them are:

Gridview 3 or 4 products: Ideal for stores that have high quality photos and/or details for the customer to better visualize the product without leaving the page.

Smart Research: We optimize the site search for the user to have access to more complete results about categories, size or product, without the need to reload the page.

Smart minicart: The customer is informed about freight calculation, discount coupons or stock status just by consulting their cart.

The result

The result is an MVP, using our E-commerce Framework solution to optimize development time and enable an agile go-live. The project focused on user experience and performance, so in the analysis we could see good results in loading speed in less than 1 second and indexing in 3.3 seconds. The mobile version also presents great results, with scores above 90 in SEO optimization.
