It is common in offline retail pharmacies to be offered special discounts by the manufacturing industry. Online it is also possible to give this type of discount through integration with benefit programs of partners, to make available discounts on selected products for the end customer.
It was through the need to integrate the benefits program that Extrafarma, a national pharmacy chain sought our assistance to develop a functionality that would enable the use of its points program in e-commerce.
About the need met by the functionality
Extrafarma's PBM was developed to integrate with the benefits program available in its physical stores.
The discount option appears on the pages of products that participate in the program, and shows the customer the discounts he can get by registering in the program. The registration can be done through some components, if you already have an account linked to your CPF in the program.
Once you agree to the terms and the customer is signed up, he can proceed with the purchase and have the discount applied directly at checkout.
About the development
This functionality was developed by the Codeby team, which built a purchase flow and integrated external systems with the VTEX IO platform. The applications developed serve as the basis for part of the store's Front-end and also the Back-end responsible for reading the orders on the platform to validate the discounts only on PBM products.
In addition, it was necessary to create a Lambda Function in conjunction with Amazon's Dynamo DB to provide an API to query the products that are part of the PBM, since they are dynamic lists that change every day, this was the best way to keep this part of the program up to date.
With this application, Extrafarma expects to be able to integrate its benefits program into e-commerce once and for all, delivering a more unified and complete experience for the customer, as well as increasing brand loyalty through the registrations to obtain discounts, positively impacting the increase in sales volume and customer retention.
