About the need fulfilled by the functionality
Extrafarma is one of the six largest drugstore chains in Brazil, the chain started its activities in 1960 and has been winning consumer preference for its variety and entrepreneurial initiatives that add value to the consumer's buying journey.
This year, the brand joined online retail as part of its strategy, through its first e-commerce site developed on VTEX IO. After the go-live in just 15 days, the brand moved on to the evolution of the project and among the updates made, is the creation of Disclaimer App, which adds new flows to the product page in order to manage controlled use / thermolabile medications, adding acceptance of specific terms and fields for registration of prescriptions for certain drugs.
How does the Disclaimer App work?
When accessing controlled or thermolabile products, the user is directed to a new flow that will be necessary to complete the purchase of the drug.
Among the flow options is the acceptance of terms for the user to agree to before adding the product to the cart.
In case the product requires a prescription for the purchase, a popup is shown where the customer will register the prescription. This prescription is sent to the store, which will send the medicine through an email to validate the information.
In addition, an interface was developed in the administrative panel of the store on the VTEX platform so that it was possible to manage the products with characteristics of controlled or thermo volatile drugs and the products that need to be blocked because they require a prescription.
What results were obtained with the functionality?
The functionality helped in the online sales of medications that require specific information from the consumer. In addition, it contributes to the management of these products by the retailer, directly in VTEX's Master Data.
In addition, it is now possible to bring to the brand's e-commerce a wider variety of drugs with specific characteristics, which consequently positively impacts online sales.
