Founded in 1928, Ben's Cycle specializes in hard-to-find, high-quality bicycle products, always striving to offer competitive prices. The brand sells and performs maintenance on several models, thanks to the large stock they have.
In 2002, after noticing the demand for bicycle equipment growing, the company created the new brand Milwaukee Bicycle, offering more than 11 high quality models, being semi customized, giving the customer the option to add or subtract parts to meet their needs and make the frame as individual as possible.
The Scenario
Both sites were hosted on a platform that was undergoing a technology shutdown.
Needing to migrate the sites to a platform that would provide easy management of the e-commerce operation and functionality that would enable the sale of highly customized products, Ben's Cycle sought our assistance.
The platform chosen for the migration was VTEX IO, with easy integration with market ERP's, delivering ease of inventory management and logistics, integration with alternative payment methods, and management of the entire e-commerce operation.
A VTEX platform is a viable option for the various apps available and the practicality in customizing and adopting new customized business models, which made a total difference for Milwaukee to continue offering its modular products.
The development
The migration project was relatively simple, since there were no major changes in the layout. The highlight was the development of the application that allows the customer to customize each part of the selected bike, to assemble the configuration the way he wants, from the wheels and color, to the more technical parts.
The big challenge was to develop the shopkeepers' environment, so that the configuration was adequate to make the final product the union of all the parts selected in the customer's customization.
Through assemble options, it was possible to link several skus to a specific sku so that when customizing the product, the customer only sees parts of that bike model that is selected. The options range from bike frame size, brakes, bicycle fork, badges, powder coat, and other customizations.
The result
The result is two e-commerces migrated to the VTEX platform, using a custom app that allows the sale of customized bicycles.
This point of customization is a differential for the brand, so our team worked hard on the development of this new app, so that the brand could continue with its business model and excellent user experience.
